Hi Praveen,

Roles and Responsibility of MDM Consultant

MDM does not require any coding from the MDM Consultantu2019s perspective, it does not expect the Consultant to sit for hours and find out the bugs from the code.

The various Roles and Responsibilities of an MDM Consultant are:

1. Development of Solution Architect

2 Should have understanding of Business scenarios and converting it to MDM Business logic.

3 Should has a crystal clear understanding of the various scenarios that are being used in the project.

4 Should be a good Business Analyst

5 Should have skills to convert Business requirements into Technical Specifications.

Hope this would be helpful!!!!!!

Hi Pravin,

As far as I know in supporting side role of an MDM consultant is to handle daily master data (may be newly created master data or edition of previous master data records) effectively.

MDM consultant need to understand client business process very clearly.

MDM project wont involve any kind of coding activity but if client demand you have to do some coding to interface client's SAP or non-SAP system with MDM to extract data from it, using API.

You need to schedule daily batch processes for Importing & syndication activity.

Hi Praveen ,

The simplest workflow defination is :

Workflow is a single table stores the workflows of an MDM repository, where each workflow is stored as a record in the table.Workflows are created and edited in the MDM Client.

Regarding how Workflow is used :

The MDM workflow engine supports a data management workflow (as contrasted to a business process workflow) with data-level rather than process-level granularity.

Each workflow is defined as consisting of a series of steps. Each step can be a user operation, a validation, or an approval.

A sequence of one or more steps in a group or in a branch of a workflow is a thread. You can add one or more records to a previously defined workflow and then launch the workflow as a job. Each job consists of the group of records that move through each step in the workflow as a series of tasks. Tasks appear in each useru2019s inbound task queue for processing.

The process of defining and executing workflows consists of two designtime phases and two runtime phases, as follows:

1. Creating a workflow record. Each workflow record is stored in the Workflows table. You create a workflow by making the Workflows table the current table and adding a new record, which includes the workflow object that is a Microsoft Visio file stored in the repository.

2. Defining the workflow. When you double-click on the workflow object, MDM launches Microsoft Visio for editing the flow diagram that represents the workflow, using a custom MDM workflow stencil that contains each of the MDM workflow step types and connectors.

3. Creating a job. A workflow job is created by making any user table the current table and adding one or more records to an unlaunched job, which is an instance of a workflow that can then be launched manually or automatically based on various criteria.

4. Executing the job. Once the job has been launched, it moves

automatically from step-to-step and from user-to-user, showing up in the inbound task queue in each useru2019s Workflows tab for

disposition and processing.

Hope this would help !!!!!!!!
