I have found an answer which is
The variable DIR_LIBRARY was to satisfy a requirement for SAP's brbackup so that brbackup could find the SAP library - libsapsecu.so. This variable was to be added to the environment as following commands:
cd /opt/omni/lbin
#./util_cmd_putopts SAP <SID> DIR_LIBRARY `/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run'\-sublist Environment
Friends my question is for the change to take into effect do we need to restart the whole system or only the database part or will it automatically take the change into effect without being system being restarted as ours is a online backup.
Please help regd the above.
Thanks
Hello Rama,
just to clarify...
1) Do you have downloaded the newest "SAP Cryptographic Software" from SMP like described in note #455033?
2) Have you already checked sapnote #912969 - case 3 is a bug with BR*Tools.

Every new process will have the new environment.. every running / existing process has still the old environment.
So if you call brbackup by hand again you will have the new environment (after new login).

In the Dev just executing the below command has solved the problem.
But in the PRD system even though the execution was successfull , the problem is not solved.
cd /opt/omni/lbin
#./util_cmd_putopts SAP <SID> DIR_LIBRARY `/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run'\-sublist Environment
Any ideas or solution pl help, apart from downloadin the SAPcrytographic download.
