Database upgrade- on IBM P570 Series, OS = AIX 5.3

Hello people;

I am going for db upgrade project,

db upgrade from 9i to 10g

on AIX 5.3 so before that I want to know from your experience and expertise that is there any checklist will be a great help and any speacific ploblems anyone faced before, please share and I will update this thread from my side

Check note 1119631 - Using SAP systems with AIX 5.3 for necessary ML/TL patchlevels. It has also a section about Oracle.

Hi Surojeet,

Upgrade on AIX with Oracle is Bit Tricky. Like Shared memory Issue SAP as well as DB (If both are on the same Host).

Apart from that Keep the latest OS Kernel Binaries (Patch) an all. Most Important is to keep your Oracle SGA Size to double of existing SGA Size (This is purely based on Upgrade) .Hope this Will help.
