Converting to a High-Availability installation of NW 7.0

We currently have a NetWeaver 7.0 installed that does not have High Availability feature installed. We would like to convert to the High Availability option on that system.

The Installation Guide does not seem to cover this scenario. It appears to only cover installing the HA option at the time of initial NetWeaver install.

Does anyone know of documentation be it notes, white papers, etc, that covers the topic of migrating an existing NW system to High Availability? Or is the only option to install HA during the initial install.

Hi Barry,

Don't need to install separate server.  you can convert your current system on HA.

you need to split SCS from your server for HA.

check sapnote 821904.

What you will probably want to look into is using a system copy into a new set of systems setup for HA. There are quite a few things that would have to be changed on a migration into an MCS type cluster, so installing is probably the best option.

Here is a similar post: [Migrating db to MSCS|;

Hope that helps.

Yes, I had to do the conversion for a R/3 4.7 system.

It's much safer to use new hardware and do an installation and database copy.

In cas of problem you can restart the production on the previous server.
