Material master data prob.

Hello guys..

In MM01 I was trying to create a material M-10 with industry sector Retail and Material type Trading goods. After entering that information I pressed enter

suddenly Retail has changed to Machanical Engineering, and it throwed a message saying..

" Industry Mechanical engineering copied from master record "

Why? What could be the reason?

Hello,

this is because the material number which you are trying to create is already exesting in the system, so it ciopies all the data. System will not allow to create same material twice.

It seems you have already created a material with the same part code and industry type Mechanical engineering. Please check in MM60.

Yes, you are right, that material is already created in some other plant.

Is it possible to delete that data permanently and make new material with same material number?

If yes, how?
