Hi all,
I am having some problems while importing a production client 030 to
refresh a test system. I get the following warning in the import log
while importing large tables,
is there any way for me to increase the space allocation to solve this
problem. The import is currently running import DFKKOP table.
3WETW019 No memory for space allocation left ("1064000000").
4 ETW000 twrtab reached memory limit; memory usage 1063500000
SAMPLES FROM TMP FILE, SPDIT00048.SQA:
3 ETW674Xstart import of "R3TRTABUBSEG" ...
3WETW019 No memory for space allocation left ("1064000000").
4 ETW000 twrtab reached memory limit; memory usage 1063500000
4 ETW000 1233553 entries from BSEG (030%) deleted.
3 ETW674Xstart import of "R3TRTABUDFKKKO" ...
3WETW019 No memory for space allocation left ("1064000000").
4 ETW000 twrtab reached memory limit; memory usage 1063500000
4 ETW000 24821441 entries from DFKKKO (030%) deleted.
Now the import is at this stage:
3 ETW674Xstart import of "R3TRTABUDFKKOP" ...
3WETW019 No memory for space allocation left ("1064000000").
4 ETW000 twrtab reached memory limit; memory usage 1063500000
All help would be greatfully appriciated!
Please go through this note

Thank you that note was quite helpful but i had already seen that note.
In the note under background it says this,
Background:
Since Release 3.1H R3trans itself is prepared for the case that the main memory is not sufficient for merging the entries to be imported. Instead of merging the table entries in the main memory, the system automatically switches to a DELETE/INSERT procedure. This is slower, but less main memory is required.
Additional information: The main memory requirement does not depend on the data to be imported but on the amount of data already existing in table in question in the key area in question.
Does this mean that the import is still running but is not using the memory to merge the table entries to but instead using DELETE/INSERT straight to the table?
Does this mean that i don't have to kill the process and start again, just wait for some time??
Is there any way for me to monitor the DELETE/INSERT procedure in that table??
with thanks in advance.
Hi
If you follow the note, then it states:
The error occurs if R3trans does not have any more main memory even before it reaches the internal limit (this is approximately 16000000 bytes by default). Thus, an error in R3trans is not being dealt with here, rather a very "normal" main storage bottleneck.
Solution:
There are two possible solutions to this problem:
a) Make sure that more main memory is available for R3trans.
b) Reduce the main memory requirement as described under 1.
To do this, R3trans has the option TCS. Set the value of this option to half the value that is specified in the above message 4 ETW000 twrtab reached memory limit; memory usage mmmis entered as "mmm", thus
TCS=iii
where iii=mmm/2 or at least iii << mmm.
Also please concern this note:

If not successful, update the kernel. It would do...
