Hello Sveinung,

Could you please create the new thread for your problem.

Please also give following information:

1) The database version;

2) What is the version of the backup tool?

< http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Basic Information

-> Administration -> Backing Up and Restoring -> Using Backup Tools from Other Providers >

3) Please post the dbm.ebp, knldiag < KnlMsg as of MAXDB 7.7 version > files.

4) Update with output of the commands:

dbmcli db_enum

dbmcli -d <SID> -u <control>,<control> medium_getall

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

What is unclear? You need to create a parameter file with the corresponding data on your system. Check the "example" pages for what needs to be configured.

Hello,

we installed the symantec client in directory d:\symantec\sap.

Our MaxDB was installed in D:\sapdb. The SID is SMK.

1. I created a file BSI.ENV with the following content in D:\sapdb\data\wrk\SMK

BACKINT D:\sapdb\SMK\db\bin\backint.exe

INPUT C:\TEMP\backint4SAPDB.in

OUTPUT C:\TEMP\backint4SAPDB.out

ERROROUTPUT C:\TEMP\backint4SAPDB.err

PARAMETERFILE D:\sapdb\SMK\db\sapdb.par

TIMEOUT_SUCCESS 600

TIMEOUT_FAILURE 300

2. I created a file sapdb.par in D:\sapdb\SMK\db with the following content:

STAGING AREA: C:\TEMP\stage1 3 GB

FILES PER BACKINT CALL: 1

BACKINT: D:\Symantec\SAP\backint.exe

PARAMETERFILE OF BACKINT: D:\Symantec\SAP\biparam.ini

HISTORY FILE D:\Symantec\SAP\BACKUPHISTORY

INPUTFILE FOR BACKINT: C:\TEMP\B4Oracle.in

OUTPUTFILE FOR BACKINT: C:\TEMP\B4Oracle.out

ERRORFILE FOR BACKINT: C:\TEMP\B4Oracle.err

MAXIMAL DELAY OF BACKINT CALL: 300

3. I edited the file biparam.ini in D:\Symantec\SAP

[General]

Server=apps-vm

Device=SMK

Job Name=SMK

Debug=ON

[Backup]

Job Template=SMK

Media=SMK

Description=

Compression=Hardware

Auto Verify=Off

Print Log=Off

4. i created a medium with

dbmcli -u -d smk medium_put BACKsmk
.\PIPE\BACKsmk PIPE DATA

If i try to make a full backup to the medium BACKsmk the nothing happens.

Can someone help me ?

Thank you

Check if an output file

dbm.ebl

dbm.ebp

is generated (in the kernel work directory)

Hello Heiko,

these files won't get generated - you have to create them!

Check the documentation (once more) : [Configuring the Backint for Oracle Connection|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/83/f718a89e867446a29f5d822c409efa/content.htm]

---> argh --- sorry I overlooked that you were referring to the protocol and logfiles... Ok...

Please post the dbm.utl file so that we can see if there had been any error messages.
