I would like to know clearly what is Functional document process and Technical document process in SAP implementation? As a technical lead how can we contact the functional team for this? What is the ideal time to write a technical document?

Hi,

Functional Specification tells what is the requirement and what is the proces going by using this scenarion.

A technical specification tells the details with technically, means how to achieve this, which functions we can use to get the required output, which techniques we use.

Dear,

As a tech. lead first of all you have to build a team for interface which consist technical person + functional person,

then get prepared BBP -- get it approved by management

then FS -- > TS (first version )

build the scenario - testing -user acceptance

revise the FS - TS if required,

Hi Jayakumar,

Let me explain u clearly

Setp1:

when there is any business req it is identified by the functional people

depending on the req they will create a document keeping business standards in mind

this is called as Functional Spec or Functional Document

Step2:

Once the Functional Spec is generated then it will be passed to the technical team

They understand the Functional Spec and change that into technical Document

they interact wiht the functional people and then make a Document called Technical Document.

Step3:

Once the Technical document is prepared then they start to build the object based on the technical document they build only when they get the approval from the functional people.

Business Requirement--->Functional Document->Technical Document--->Build Object.

if found worth pls do the req

Thanx

Hi Jayakumar

Functional Document

FD is a formal document used to describe in detail for software developers a product's intended capabilities, appearance, and interactions with users. The functional specification is a kind of guideline and continuing reference point as the developers write the programming code.

A functional specification may also contain formal descriptions of user tasks, dependencies on other products, and usability criteria.

Technical Document contains following things

1) steps followed to build an object

2) Test cases

3)Components used.

4) Error Handling Details

Process Flows like this

FD->TD>Build

Hi,

A functional specification is the funtional requirement what needs to be achieved. Whenever a new requirement pops up, the functional guy associated with it supposed to create this document saying what are his requirements.

A technical specification is how ur going to achieve the specified requirement. It contains all details about technical things. I hope this will help you.

When ever requriement comes up check your requriement is SD, MM or some other functional thing and concat your functional guy there.Once you done with functional document then only ou will go for technical document.

Thanks
