Unable to generate PDF Thumbnails in MDM Data Manager

Hello,

I'm working with MDM Data manager 5.5SP5. I have imported some PDF files to the PDFs table. But the Thumbnail is not showed.

I have read that we can create a Thumbnail manually by this way:

+To manually generate the thumbnail for one or more PDFs:

1. In the Records pane, select the PDF record(s) whose thumbnails you

want to generate.

2. Right-click on one of the records and choose Generate Thumbnail from

the context menu, or choose Objects > Generate Thumbnail from the

main menu.

3. MDM opens the Generating Thumbnails progress dialog to indicate the

status as it generates the thumbnail for each of the PDFs.+

BUT, the generate proccess fails:

*+

file.pdf: Not initialized.+*

How can i solve it? Is it neccessary to configure the Adobe PDF in Data Manager? Can I generate the Thumbnail using another program?

Which are the PDF valids to MDM?

There is no way to configure any Adobe Pdf in Data Manager. Try all these options:

1) I think you can try doing 1 setting in Console in the Repository properties:

Allow Invalid Pdfs - Yes

2) If you have imported your pdfs using the above setting, this might be reason that the thumbnails are not getting created as the imported PDFs are not valid. Try setting these property as NO and then import a new pdf. Once it gets imported with this property as NO, that means the PDF is Valid. Now try creating the thumbnails by the method you were trying before.

3. Also you can try linking the pdf to a main table record and then try generating the thumbnail. Also try Vice-versa.

These ways might help you de-bugging the problem.
