unable to import PDFs in MDM data manager tool

Hello,

I'm working with SAP MDM 5.5 SP5 Data Manager. I want to add some pdf files to this tool. So, I select PDFs table, and in the record panel I select the add option.

Finally I select Data group and all pdf files that I want to import, but the panel shows the following error message:

Y:\file.pdf: MDM Server Error

What could be the problem? Should I configure the MDM Server before to import?

Where could I get more information about it?

Hi Marta,

Try the following:

In the Console, right click on your repository and select the Properties option.

Here under the PDF node, set the Allow Invalid PDFs option to Yes.

Problem solved!!!

But, this way, MDM just imports the PDF document but the thumbnails view is not available...

What is the real problem? PDF version? Which should be the correct characteristics of the PDF file to be imported correctly?

Solved:

To manually generate the thumbnail for one or more PDFs:

1. In the Records pane, select the PDF record(s) whose thumbnails you

want to generate.

2. Right-click on one of the records and choose Generate Thumbnail from

the context menu, or choose Objects > Generate Thumbnail from the

main menu.

3. MDM opens the Generating Thumbnails progress dialog to indicate the

status as it generates the thumbnail for each of the PDFs.
