I am new to SAP. I know java/weblogic/webMethods. I am trying to learn SAP NetWeaver. I have installed NW04 in my machine and started the server. It came up fine. Is there developer documentation. How do i use it?.
Note : if this forum is not the right place, please do guide me.
Hi,
what exactly do you want to learn portal, abap,BW you can post your questions in the appropriate forum.
www.help.sap.com provides most of the documentation you need.
you can search in sdn for weblogs, code samples to get the information you need.
The link pilot in sdn provides video presentations on many topics.

Yes your question is not so clear: There are many components in Netweaver you may be interested in...
But if you are already skilled in webmethods and want to stay in this direction you should concentrate on XI.

My interest is in SAP Server Administration / Integration with external applications / Performance enhancements / etc. I dont want to go into SAP Application development. I believe in order to do the above, I need to do some amount of development and I want to which is the best place to start. XI / BW / something else.
I'd recommend to concentrate on pure SAP Web Application Server first. If you are absolutly new to SAP maybe some education courses would be nice. Anyway there are also good online ressources and books for selfpaced learning.
I'd recommend to check out first:
I came from a sys admin background when I was first getting into SAP, and this book helped me a lot:
You may be interested in taking a look at it. It's a good introduction to the evironment.
