B4 doing so, please check with your FI / MM people. To my knowledge, you should not create material type as "Capital Goods".
The definition for Capital Goods is that Any goods used by an organization to produce other goods. Examples of capital goods include office buildings, equipment, and machinery. It may be FERT, HALB etc., As you may be aware, based on the material type, valuation class and valuation type are assigned.
Any other thoughts on this are welcome
thanks

HI
For creating Matrial type go to
IMG>Logistic-general>MM>Basic setting----->material type
There you can create material for capital goods
and u can define number range also which ever u want whether internal or external

Go to the logistics general-Material Master-Basic settings-material types.
In this route you will get the change material type screen. choose any material type and copy. Be sure to change the material attributes and assign a number range which is given under the same route.
