Matrix Product (Retail Article)
The retail article master data object is only available in a SAP Retail system which is an industry solution. The retail article utilizes supplementary tables in addition to the MARA table to house this information.
The term u201Cmatrix productu201D comes from the fact that oftentimes a product, for instance a shirt, comes in many sizes and in many colors resulting in a u201Cmatrixu201D of combinations, yet every combination has the same material number. Some companies issue a new material number for each combination when they do not have the SAP Retail industry solution. The retail article should only be used in such an industry solution.
