Running Visual Administrator from a client machine

Dear Experts,

Is it possible for me to run Visual Administrator and config Tool from a client machine. If so how?

Hi,

If you are on windows then use remote desktop connection,if you are on unix then use telnet and then go to the folder usr/sap/sid/instance/j2ee/admin/ then run the go.sh script it will start the visual admin.

Thank you for the reply. As of now i using remote desktop but i don't want to use it. I would like to monitor/control the server from my client machine itself.

you can setup telnet for windows...

You can use the VA from your local PC, just copy the /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS*/j2ee/admin-Folder there. Since it is java based, it'll run.

When patching your Engine, you should re-copy the files again, because the va realizes when connecting to an engine on another release. However mostly it works fine nevertheless.

I don't think the configtool can be run from your client, since the os-user probably does not hat have the right authorization.
