Adding approver, got booted out.

Hi all,

Some of our users got booted out or session timed out right away when clicking adding approver. This doesn't happen all the time and the users more likely from a remote sites. I don't know if this happens because of network congestion or it should be caused by that.

Our system is SRM 5 and we have 2 application servers for load balancing. We aware that there is issue with application servers with workflow and already applied notes 1090619.

Thanks for your help and please help because this issue happens more and more these days,

Kev

Did you activate HTTP Compression via SICF yet? That may help...

If that does not help - do they use any proxies? Are the MSIE settings different? Did you try out Firefox?

Also check out note 1032217.

I will try the http compression. I don't think we have it in place.

Hi Andreas,

Looks like the http compresion is not on by default although we are on SRM server 5.5.

Would you suggest to activate this on all the services? If yes, shall I just activete the parent node its instead ( default_host>sap>bc>gui>sap-->its ).

I believe that http compression almost has no disadvantage so I think it is better to turn this on for all services, right.

Do you know how to prove it if the compression is on? We turned on compression from the default_host node and wondering if those nodes under it have the compression on. We tried to turn off the http 1.1 from internet explorer internet setting. But we still able to access the bbpstart page without error.

Thanks,

Kev

Does it happens only for this action or any other action also leads to time out? Clear the IE cookies, sometimes it plays a vital role.

So far, all users reported this when they add approvers. And the timeout is not after waitng for a while. It actually timeout right away.

I will definitely ask them to try out the IE cookie stuff.

Also check if it is not an authorization problem.

Those users reported this usually perform the same task few times a week and just sometimes they got booted out. I am hoping that is network issue like blip or something like that from between sites. Then this is just temporary.

Hi Kev,

If you think it is network related, I would suggest you ask the network guys to do a trace on a user who has this problem and let him try to reproduce it. Then they should be able to find the problem.

Is it by st01 for the trace? However, it might not easy to do the trace as this doesn't happen all the time. I will try to see anyway.

No not a trace in SAP but a network trace.
