ERP 6.0 Vs Netweaver

Hi,

I dont understand the difference between ERP6.0 and Netweaver 7.0. As I understand ERP6.0 also has the Netweaver AS as it engine. Then what it mean by Netweaver 7.0. When I check the components versions in ERP6.0 system (From the menu system->status->component versions) I always find SAP_BASIS as 700. If my engine is still SAP_BASIS 700 how come ERP6.0 has Netweaver AS.

If I check the Unicode conversion guides we have guides for 6.20, 6.40, Netweaver 7.0. What it mean? Which guide is relevant for ERP6.0 with SAP_BASIS 700?

Is SAP_BASIS 700 and Netweaver 7.0 are same..?

Please throw some light.

Regards,

David

Hi David,

SAP ERP is a product for business applications, SAP NetWeaver is a technology platform.

Saying that SAP ERP 6.0 is running on SAP NetWeaver means that SAP ERP is based on (some parts of) SAP NetWeaver 7.0, e.g Software Component SAP_BASIS. SAP ERP 6.0 is based on the AS ABAP "as engine", but SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is more than just the AS ABAP.

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 consists of different parts, like AS ABAP, AS Java, Portal, Process Integration, ...

Check out the [SDN page on SAP NetWeaver|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/netweaver] to find more information.

The guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 should be the relevant one.

Hi Boris,

So if I my NetWeaver 7.0 have both AS ABAP and AS Java it will be still called ERP6.0.

Tell me, how can we check if we have AS Java in our NetWeaver7.0? For eg SAP_BASIS tells me about AS ABAP. Can you have similar software componet for AS Java?

Thanks for the reply,

Regards,

David

Hi David,

well, since the SAP NetWeaver has two stacks (ABAP and Java), the list with the ABAP Software Components do not show you the Java Software Components.

For the AS Java, you can check the installed Software Components via a web page. You need to know the java http port (and the hostname): http://<host>:<port>; then use the link to "System Information". For AS Java on code line 7.0, it should be http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo

(Your system is called ERP 6.0 because the business application software components are installed on it, independent from AS java)
