UDS and MES Help

Hi all,

I wish to connect a shop floor system to my xMII server.

Please let me know how I can do that using MES as well as using UDS.

Do they serve the same purpose or different.

Any link or document would be helpful.

Thank you,

Regards,

Gita KC.

Hi Gita,

I'm afraid you're going to have to be a bit more specific in terms of what you're wanting to connect to.

thanks.

Gita,

Typically MES (Manufacturing Execution System) refers to a Shop Floor System. Many shop floor systems retain data in a database. Many also have webservices built in. You can either directly tap into the database or use the webservices. Much of the time, it is better to use webservices since they tend to be asynchronous in nature rather than possibly disrupt your database's availability to the shop floor system. (you don't want to interrupt production!!!) But you will need to provide more details of the MES/Shop Floor System and also what version and service release of xMII you are using.

Thanks,

Mike
