Is there any way to prevent users from logging in from GUI? Possibly a system parameter? We want users to only login via the portals environment.
Depending how you use your portal there are different solutions.
If you use webdynpro technology through RFC you can set the users user type to be Communication, they require dialog in order to log in.

Remove the saplogin.ini from the user's system( c:\windows or c:\winnt folder ) or change the login parameters ( Ex. server name, IP address etc) for the server and don't update the user's saplogin.ini, then even if they try to logon using GUI also, they will get the error message.
