Compare XI with other Middelwares

Hello Gyues..I am new to Exchange Infrastructure and I am learning through the various links available on SDN as starting point of study material.

Can someone give me the information aboout other Middelwares available in market and what will be the advantages of XI over other tools.

u2022 Easy Integration with SAP products & components (RFC, IDOC, Proxy).

u2022 Data security as expected from any SAP product.

u2022 Standards based - XML, XSD, Xpath etc

u2022 Ability to communicate with other messaging systems/products.

u2022 Business Process Management

u2022 Synchronous & Asynchronous communication possible.

u2022 Complex processes for communication possible instead of only sending and receiving (business process management) (connect e.g. asynchronous and synchronous steps, define complex communication scenarios)

u2022 Mapping etc possible to accomplish in Java. Platform independent Java components.

u2022 Big range of adapters for different technologies / tools (SOAP, Mail, JDBC, CDIX...)available in standard or offered by other companies (EDI e.g. by Seeburger).

u2022 Process functionalities inside XI to modify content in the communication channel on own defined rules for business purposes.

Hi,

The main advantage of XI is that we can modify the data which we are sending to the target system. In case of other middle ware tools it transfers the data to destination we can't do any modification in the data.

Different Middleware tools in the market are SAP XI------SAP EAI tool

TIBCO

Webmethods

Mercutor and genetron(EDI)

In the market most famous and emerged Middleware is TIBCO and SAP XI. TIBCO is a High end integration technology where as SAP XI is sap subsidiary EAI tool so, It is Basically Integration between SAP, Non SAP(File systems, Database systems, Remote clients, Mail server, EDI systems, Messaging systems, Portals.

For TIBCO you should have exp or knowledge on JAVA

For SAP XI you should have SAP ABAP(ALE/IDocs/RFC) and JAVA also.

So XI3.0/PI7.0 is still under developing as per my Knowledage its haveing good future.
