Nice it worked but it did not change the password for DDIC i still had to login with the default password

I actually installed the IDES to practice BW but when i entered Transaction code RSA1 it shows an error

Transaction RSA1 does not exist

Message no. SF466

My question is Is it IDES a BW system or not because when i tried to login with the BW explorer it says that my

DEV (sap system) is not a BW system.

please help.

regards.

"IDES" stands for "International Demo and Education System" - it´s available for various products. Apparently you installed an ERP IDES - which does not have the BW functionality.

You would need to install "IDES SEM-BW 6.0/7.00".

The system tries to change the password but apparently it´s denied for some reason - I must admit I have no idea why the system denies the password change.

I would

- stop sapinst

- open keydb.xml in the installation directory

- search for "ERROR" (as CDATA) and replace by OK

- repeat the installation by using the old installation directory

click on sapserver.cmd to install SAPDB then install IDES version on it

There is not "sapserver.cmd"used for SAPDB/MaxDB as database. The database is installed by sapinst during the installation.

...and before I forget: on the installation master CD/DVD there´s an installation guide in PDF format...

If you have an IDES installation and you´re permitted to have one, then you have an S-User ID and you can download the official installation guide from

http://service.sap.com/instguides
