Creating SO for Non-stock Material

Hi,

I was trying to create SO with Mat # 1253 (Item Cat Group NORM) and I changed the item category manually to TAX but the system gives the following error:

"Item category TAX is not defined for this item

Message no. V1321

Diagnosis

This item category TAX is not allowed for this item.

System Response

The system does not allow further processing of this item.

Procedure

Check your entry.

You can display the possible entries by placing the cursor on the Item category field in the document and selecting F4 (Possible entries)."

But in the Item Cat. Assignment I have found this combination:

ZOR1 NORM TAX TAPS TAS TANN with the usage blank.

My question is why I am unable to create SO for non-stock material with Item Cat group NORM. However, I am able to create SO if I change the Item Cat Group as NLAG in the Mat master.

Please advice how I can create SO for non-stock Material with Mat Item Cat group as NORM.

Hi jans

The reason is in sales order , the schedule line you get is relavent for delivery and i suppose the schedule line for TAX item is not

Hi Srinath,

The Schedule line for TAX is CX and the Incompletion is 30 that means it is delivery related. Actualy I have got one more Mat # 1254 which I want to use as lower level item and I want use the Item cat as TAPS.

I have created the similar type SO long time back but I have forgot it now.

Please help me.

I presume, in VOV4, you have maintained the following

SaTy:::::ItCGr::::::::Usg:::::HLevItCa::::::DfItc:::::MItCa::::::MItCa::

ZOR1:::::NORM::::::::::::::::::TAX:::::::::::TAPS:::::TAS::::::::TANN

If you have maintained as above, you cannot change it manually bcoz it is assigned as default and it should flow automatically into your sale order. Try maintaining in Manual Item Category as under and then retry.
