Hi Experts,

I am planning to do the Homogeneous System Copy of Production System to Quality system.

PRD server environment is

OS :- SUN Solaris 10

SAP :- ECC 6.0

Database :- Oracle 10g

Patch :- 10.2.0.2.0

My Quality server is already installed & running.

QAS server environment is

OS :- SUN Solaris 10

SAP :- ECC 6.0

Database :- Oracle 10g

Patch :- 10.2.0.2.0

I want to do the System Copy using Backup/Restore method.

As per the guide I have the offline backup ready.

Can you please let me the steps & any Tips to do this?

Thanks,

Sachin

Hi Sachin,

I just completed this exercise successfully, my environment is

RHEL 4.0

SAP R/3 4.7 Ext 110

Oracle 10.2.0.2

Just note that the installation of QAS must use the same SCHEMA name as PRD see note 617444.

Since QAS is already installed, run ./sapint from your Installation media.

Uncheck extract "kernel, client and Oracle software" since they already exist.

You will then be prompted with a screen to Restore from your backup.

Use brrestore -d <device-name> -b <name-of-backup-logfile>.afd -m all.

A message indicating that the <SID's> are different will appear.

Accept the defaults and continue until ./sapinst is completed.

VKM.

Again:

read the system copy guides: http://service.sap.com/systemcopy

All procedures that are possible are explained there - with the necessary steps. And yes - you can use that method.

Sachin,

You just need to carry sapinst process at Target machine as normal installation.....by selecting system copy while installation and it will guide you through the setps....at one step it will ask you to restore your backup....( may be file system or database backup both will work ) and then once restore is over you can continue the installation.

Read SAP standard documents.

Reward points if useful.

Hi,

I haven't count the amount of times this has been explained in this same forum.

But, to save space time.

Go to

http://service.sap.com/instguides

SAP Business Suite Applications

SAP ERP

SAP ERP 6.0

Installation

There you can find several documents called

"System Copy for SAP ..."

choose the one that matches your requirements.

The only tip I can offer (and you should need) is to read in detail the guide and all notes refered.

that is all you need.
