ok - looks good.

the only thing I can imagine what stays left is the filesystem. Do you use reiserfs or ext3?

ext3

And the parameter filesystemio_options is set to "setall"?

Hi again

I still have no doubt, the filesystem is full, under linux df is often misleading especially when there are a lot of small files.

BR0370I Directory /oracle/NW4/sapreorg/sdybsgtj created

Why is there no directory /oracle/NW4/sapreorg/sdybsgtj ?

Can you please try to create the control file in the sapreorg filesystem:

ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO '/oracle/NW4/sapreorg/cntrlNW4.old';

If this fails, try to copy a controlfile to sapreorg:

oranw4 % cp /oracle/NW4/sapdata1/cntrl/cntrlNW4.dbf /oracle/NW4/sapreorg/cntrlNW4.old

If all this does not help, please have a look at /var/log/messages for io errors or something like this.

Hi Michal & Maheswaran,

thanks for your reply there is plenty space and i also tried removing all files from the sapreorg but I'm getting the same error.

i tried " alter database back controlfile to trace " at sql prompt it worked but when i tried with the target file name then it's throwing the same error.

ِAre the permissions correctly set for that directory? Has brbackup the s-uid-bit set? (means, did you execute ./saproot.sh <SID> in the kernel directory after updating the brtools)?

Hi,

Make sure that the location is available and the permission exists for that file system.

It is giving Io error while taking copy of the controlfile

Hi Boby

In most cases this means the /oracle/NW4/sapreorg filesystem is full, either resize or delete old files there.

Michael
