According to [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2] and [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5], Java SE 1.4 (i.e. the basis of NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 7.0) reaches the End of Service Life in October this year. Java SE 1.5 (the basis of NetWeaver 7.1) reaches End of Service Life in October 2009.
Has anybody seen a statement from SAP about how this might affect customers? Sun mentions a "Java SE for Business" product as a replacement which will be supported for 15 years, but this may require the replacement of existing JVMs...?
Cheers,
Darren
Darren,
they support the business connector on 1.3.1 which is way gone.
Anyway, any issues and you go to SAP, not Sun.
As far as Basis are concerned, SAp will fix bugs with standard functionality while a release is supported. In reality it may be that new functiona release with new support packages are not supported o 1.4.2..... Don;t worry. We will be fine
