Hi all,

Do we have any option of transfering file from one operating system to another operating system using XI as an integration technology

Hi!!!

Yes, you can use XI to transfer files between different operation systems (Windows/Unix, for example).

You have several options:

- you can use ftp,

- map folders,

- install an additional adapter engine (J2ee or just plain J2se) to send/receive files.

Hey michal,

Thing is they already have now an application that take the files rom the shops and brings the files to the SAP system

what would be the benifits from your prespective to replace this with XI?

Hi,

you can send then from XI to an FTP folders

which will be set at the shops (so many ftps in this case)

or there might be one central ftp somewhere

but the shops will have to connect to this ftp and take the files

>>>do i have to use here pck prehaps?

no need for PCK in this case

you can also use SFTP if you need to secure FTP connections

hi,

>>>Also can XI zip files before sending it?

sure it can:

1. you can use operation system command to zip the file with a command line zip-ing program

2. you can develop an adapter module and place is in your file adapter - this adapter will zip the file before sending it
