Hello,
I've lost a lot of time solving this problem.
During an update from SPS10 to SPS14 resp. SPS15 the JSPM stopped after deploying the new kernel, because the auto-update of sdm failed.
The solution:
Follow this snote:
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/860939
At point 7 before starting update.bat, edit the batch file and substitute -Xmx64M with for instance -Xmx256M.
(It is the maximum size of the memory allocation pool)
Then restart JSPM.
This would be helpful in the snote about troubleshooting SDN (and also in the similar page of help.sap.com).
