You need a master forecast profile only for forecasting. As the name says, it is for forecasting. The main use of a demand planning system is forecasting. If you are not doing forecasting, you are pretty much not doing anything in a DP system.
Not using forecasting in a DP system is like saying not using your mouth while eating!
