Using business objects in SAP SRM Content

There is an integration scanarion (MM->SRM) inside SAP SRM SERVER 5.0 SCV. There is a mapping between IDOC outbound interface and PurchaseOrder inbound interface.

But how PurchaseOrder is inserted into SAP SRM? Why there is no PurchaseOrder -> IDOC Mapping.

Is it a good practice to have additional layer of interfaces, for example (IDOC->PurchaseOrder->JDBC_XML instead of IDOC->JDBC_XML) ?

as far as i know, SRM is working with proxies. so for the purchase order interface in the XI content a (inbound) proxy should exist within SRM, inserting the data into the according tables.

your second question is referring to what is called a "canonical data model". in general it's not a bad idea, but it depends on the integration strategy of each company if it is used and within XI content from SAP it is definitely not used
