WebSAPConsole - Duplicate Screens

Former Member

We have implemented WebSAPConsole with 6.4GUI on a 4.7 Enterprise system. The WebServer is Windows Server 2003. We are using IIS for the web connection. The client is a PocketPC 2003 device.

We are running into a couple issues I am hoping someone can provide some recommendations on how to resolve.

1. Periodically, we are seeing where a scanner has a split screen. Part of the screen will be the transaction or menu the user was on, the other part is some other screen or a menu. The screen is split vertically where one is above the other. Only option is to disconnect and reconnect. We are seeing this every few days. I have not been able to figure out how to reproduce this, since it is quite random. Not sure if this is an IIS, scanner, or WebSAPConsole issue.

2. We also see where we have to stop and start IIS periodically. Scanners can either not connect or are running incredibly slow. The restart of IIS seems to resolve the issue, where scanners are connecting and running pages much quicker. Are there any patches or settings for IIS I should be concerned about?

Any help advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Chip

Brian,

I believe the issue has something to do with the connection being lost either due to problem with IIS or the wireless. Were never able to isolate it. It was very infrequent (maybe once a week - after 1000 transactions), and difficult to reproduce.

We were also seeing IIS shutdown periodically, so recently (3-4 weeks back) moved to SAP J2EE Webserver. Haven't seen split screens since or any shutdowns of the webserver.

Hi Chip!

Not sure if you have resolved it by yourself.Any have here is the answer.

(1) For the Duplicate Screen Issue, Make sure your SAPGUI 6.40 is at the latest patch level. We had a similar issue and we upgraded to SAPGUI 6.40 PATCH 14 and it resolved the issue.

(2)WebSAPCOnsole Performance Issue: Are u using IIS 6.0?

WebSAPConsole creates an isapi_sapcnsl.dll which sits on the top of IIS( irrespective of Windows 2000/XP/2003).

You will notice that the performance of WebSAPConsole is very good in IIS in Windows 2000/XP. This proves that WebSAPConsole has no problemwith performance. When webSAPConsole is running in IIS in Windows 2003 the performance is poor.We analyzed this issue extensively and our conclusion is that the performance hit is due to extensive security checks by Microsoft in IIS(Windows 2003).

Since the issue is with Microsoft, and lot of security issues have been introduced in IIS(Windows 2003), the performance of WebSapConsole is poor in Windows 2003.

So, the recpmmedation is better to use IIS 5.0 in Windows 2000/XP.Its performance is good. Also not many complains regarding the performance of WebSAPConsole in (IIS)Windows 2000/XP.

Thanks

Does this work correctly on a laptop, and only occur on a scanning device? Is the connection constant or could it be dropping in the middle of retrieving the page? Could also be a caching issue, how much memory is given to caching? How many devices are trying to connect? Do they stay connected all the time? etc.
