1. What is EDI.

I have found this through the search 😛

2. Which EDI adapters are supported bij SAP? I mean, which adapters SAP netweaver will work with?

omg gonna look in to those links!

btw are there no edi adapters withouth XI. Because you need XI to get seeburger adapter working right?

So, which adapters can i use without XI?

And are they standard in a SAP netweaver installation?! If not where can i find those?

Thanks

>>Because you need XI to get seeburger adapter working right?

No,XI is not mandatory to run Seeburger adapter.

if you buy complete suite from Seeburger you can run it without XI.in that case Seeburger adapters will run on Seeburger server itself whereas in case of XI,seeburger adapters run on XI server.

Thanx

Ok now i'm confused...:(

I have read this: http://www.seeburger.com/fileadmin/com/pdf/SAP_Exchange_Infrastructure_Integratio_Strategy.pdf

But i dont see the benefit to get the seeburger adapter above the standard sap xi!? Why would i implement XI and seeburger or just seeburger??

Ok a little scenario:

Business C wants to implement a portal sollution. And what they want to put up, is a kind of a webshop. You have buyers A and suppliers B, all they want to do is to make a some kind of catalog of what is in stores. Now these suppliers B and buyers A have difrent systems, but they only need to exchange data. So i think then XI would be enough? Or do Seeburger have an advantage above XI

Based on your usage you have to configure thes adapter.for example

AS2 sender adapter:

1)AS2

2)Asynchor MDN Setting:

a)SSL Certificates and Clint certifactes.

b)SSL host name:HTTP Timeout,MDN Retry interval and MDN Retry count

c)use proxy

Hi,

Seeburger EDI Adapter leverages SAP XI's Adapter Framework. This Adapter is used to perform conversion between EDI and XML format. It also provides some canned EDI layouts and the ability to build your own. It is used to transfer the EDI message via HTTP or AS2 protocols.

To use the Seeburger Adapterswe need to configure the BIC module.

These are the Adapters list by Seeburger AG for SAP XI 3.0

Technical EDI Adapters:

1) AS2 (EDIINT/HTTP(S))

Protocol: AS2

2) OFTP

Protocol: OFTP/ISDN, OFTP/TCPIP

3) VAN Access

Protocol: X.400

4) Generic EDI

Protocol: OFTP/ISDN or X.400

EDI Converter: ANSI X.12, EDIFACT

Mapping Templates: Purchase Order, Order Confirmation,Dispatch Advice, Invoice

5) Payment (Financial Service Providers)

Protocol: OFTP/ISDN, X.400

EDI Converter: EDIFACT, SWIFT

Mapping Templates: Payment Orders, Debit Advice,Credit Advice, Account Statement

Industry Specific EDI Adapters:

Aerospace & Defense

Automotive

Chemicals

Consumer Products

High-Tech

Paper

Pharmaceutical

Retail

Hi,

1) Which EDI adapters are supported bij SAP? I mean, which adapters SAP netweaver will work with?

Seeburger EDIadapter are purely technical adaptors(they can be used for technical communication)

For Example:

AS2 Adapter

OFTP Adapter

VanFTP Adapter

X400 Adapter

Standards and Protocols

HTTP(s)

X.400

UN/EDIFACT (EANCOM97, EANCOM2002, TRADACOMS)

ANSI X12

Seeburger BIC Adapter are basically mapping programme (can be deployed as module processors) can be installed on top of XI adaptor framework for EDI to XML and XML to EDI conversions.

For more info refer this blog..

Hope this info is exactly what u want in the above Question..

Hi,

Main EDI Adapter for netweaver is SEEBURGER AS2 Adapter.

Brief about seeburger:

Seeburger adapters like OFTPS,AS2,X400 are used for B2B scenario where the file is coming through WAn network or mailbox. As XI dont have capability to convert the EDIFACT format file to XML the same work will be done by seeburger adapters.

The SEEBURGER Business Integration Converter (BIC) is an any-to-any format converter, used to translate EDI data and legacy data formats into XML and vice versa. It can also be used for complex, high performance XML-to-XML mappings or to interface to existing JDBC data sources.

Supported EDI formats include:

• ANSI

• EDIFACT

• INHOUSE

• IDOC

• XML Schema

• XML DTD

• CSV

• Delimited Data

• positional data

• SWIFT

• EANCOM

and many more.

See for converting the EDI XML to EDI and XML-EDI you need to have a seeburger mapping program at the adapter module which does the conversion. For this module you need a BIC tool of seeburger which provides the different module program for EDI to XML and XML-EDI. This program needs to be deployed on XI and through adapter it has to be called for conversion.

Seeburger provide following functionality.

1) It has std XSD available which we just need to import into External definition

2) It has std mappings for all the message type which converts EDI to XML and XML to EDI format.

3) Provides different adaters

4) BIC tool

5) Many adapter modules.

For implementing seeburger you need to follow the below steps:

1) First deploy the Std seeburger mapping provided by see burger on XI

2) If you are using the AS2 adapter then you have to install the AS2 server on XI server.

3) Once you install the std seeburger on SAP XI server you will see the AS2,X400,OFTPS,VAN adapter on XI ID.

5) You need to call the std mapping in the adapter module which does the conversion from EDI to XML and XML to EDI.

Flow of the data from EDi to SAp r/3 using seeburger:

1) Data will be coming thorugh WAN or mailbox.

2) If its coming through WAN then every WAN provider will give the partner which is sending the data a partner number for indentification.

3) In your AS2 channel you need to configure the party and for that party you need to give the WAN number which is proivded for that partner. So it will run that configuration whenever that partner send the data.

4) In the adapter you have to give the mapping program name which does the conversion of EDI-XML and XML-EDI.

5) Once you XML is generated then it will be used in MM

6) At the receiver if its IDOC adapter then IDOC adapter will post the IDOC to R3 system.

Refer this forum which is replied by me which talk about the configuration which need to be done for AS2 adapter. This is very helpful:
