Hi All,

Please I have an urgent requirement to install SAPGWS/enable the service on my ABAP based system.

1) What is SAPGWS ?

2) What are the prequisite for it.

3) How is it different from SAPGW(XX) where XX is the system no.

I havent installed this before but most likely you will find the neccesary files if you search for all categories in [http://service.sap.com/swdc|http://service.sap.com/swdc]

Search for "gateway"

the vendor wants us to install SAPGWS for the SAP BAPI calling a RFC that is resided in BizTalk.

I guess it means that there is an RFC server in BizTalk.

These RFC servers register themselves in a SAP gateway.

If it the gateway of the main SAP system, the registration is lost each time the SAP system is stopped (offline backup for instance).

A solution to this problem, is to install a standalone gateway and to register the RFC server in the standalone gateway.

In the main SAP system, in SM49 for your BizTalk RFC destination you use the standalone gateway.

Dear

1) SAPGWS is a service that runs in a windows environment.

It is in fact gwrd.exe that is being runned.

2) It is only on windows and part of your installation (of TREX?) using sapinst

3) It's a standalone gateway (not part of abap installation)

I don't really know what you are doing or planning to do but if you are installing a TREX you can configure it so it connects to the SAP gateway of an existing abap installation (SAPGWxx). Then there is no need to install the SAPGWS service on the host where your TREX is running.
