Hello
We have a SAP Netweaver Installation NW04 (6.40), on Windows /Oracle, and MSCS.
We have read Upgrade Guide, and we have a doubt regarding SCS instance.
Following guide, we should perform additional tasks (postprocessing) in case of MSCS:
************
6.1 Follow-Up Activities for the Microsoft Cluster Server
Some post-upgrade activities are necessary for an MSCS configuration. For more information, see
SAP Note 941092.
Procedure
1. Stop the SAP system and the SAP service.
2. Perform the steps listed in SAP Note 941092.
*************************
and note 941092 say:
***************
Procedure for Java only systems:
1. Stop the SAP system.
2. Start SAPinst from the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 Installation Master DVD
on the first MSCS node and choose
<Product> -> SAP Systems -> <Database> -> <High Availability
System> -> Based on AS Java -> First MSCS Node.
3. Start SAPinst from the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 Installation Master DVD
on the additional MSCS node(s) and choose
<Product> -> SAP Systems -> <Database> -> <High Availability
System> -> Based on AS Java -> Additional MSCS Node.
4. If you have enqueue replication service (ERS) instances, restart them.
**********************************
But , if I do task 2. and 3. , is the same that installing a new SCS , right???
It there is already a SCS instance installed... this will finish well???
Thanks and regards
Javier
Hi Javier,
Yes, you will have an additional (standby) SCS on the other nodes of the MSCS cluster. This is the intention of a MSCS installation.

Hi Matt
But, the starting point is a MSCS installation, 6.40. That means I already have an SCS instance (that can be running in both nodes) a Central Instance in node A and a Dialog Instance in node B.
My question is if after upgrading Central Instance to 7.00 I follow steps 1) 2) 3) 4), that will create a conflict with SCS instance former????
Thanks
