NFS - read-write access

Former Member

Hi,

I have a file to file serverA -> XI -> serverB scenario, due to security issue, I have to use NFS instead of FTP.

I understand that I have to mount folders of serverA and serverB on XI server to make it works.

However, basis team ask me about the setting of read-write access of the folder. I have no idea on which userId that I should grant read-write access to. I guess should be userid used by XI to access the folder? but which id is accessing the folder? Am I need to create the same userid in serverA and serverB?

Anyone can guide me on this?

Thanks in advanced.

hi mcmcmc

the user with which you are logged in and doing this developement scenario use that and give this user full rights to access your folders

also give the same right to the receiver side folder

then you will be able to pick data and dump into rcvr side

thanks

Hi Sandeep,

The user account that you mentioned is at XI level or UNIX level? If it's at XI level, if the user account not exist at UNIX level, am I need to create one?

Thanks.

Hi ,

If you are using NFS then you will use the <SID>USER to access both folders.

So for example, if your system ID is XI1 then the user it will use will be XI1USER.

This user will need the required access.

Hi,

As I know,

you need to take Authorization

of your company user id should have rights to access the folders.

Ramesh.
