Stop archiving repository in MDM Console

Former Member

Hello ,

I wanted to take back up of a repository which had 6000+ records.

I archived the repository in "unloaded" mode some 3 days back and still the status is showing as archiving.

Since the repository was unloaded, I cant use MDM Data Manager.

Does anyone have any idea why is it taking so long to archive the repository?

Also, is there any way as to how can we stop the process of archiving a repository?

Will stopping the MDM server help?

Any help in this regard will b appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Roshani.

Hi Roshani,

it can not take 3 days for only 6000 records.

Stop the server and check repository and also logs.

Hi Roshani,

You can not delete a repository until its stopped.

You will be able to delete after restarting the server.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

As 'An' said i too dont think it should take so much time.. for 6000 records either in minutes or max a couple of hours... any ways as you said its still under process might be it got stuck somewhere its better instead of restarting your server, you stop your console, by selecting AltCltDel and then restart you console. and then try to archieve a small repositorya and then you try with the 6000 thousand one....

Cheers,

Cherry.

Hello,

can you specify the machine's configuration please?

If you use an older one, this could perhaps explain the behaviour.

Hi,

I am using SAP MDM Console Version 5.5 SP6 .

Also, when i right click on this rep, the 'delete repository' option is disabled.

Can i delete that rep in some way?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I mean the power of the CPU (MHz/GHz) and the available RAM. As well as the operating system.

Hi,

I assume you mean the machine config of the server.

RAM is just 2 GB .Other details i m not sure of. The MDM server is also used for BW. I guess for this reason it is running very slow .

Also, i feel that the repository(which i wanted to archive) had some errors initially. Now i wish to completely delete the repository .

I will try restarting the server and then deleting it. Hope that will solve the problem.
