Alternate resource in PP/DS

Hello,

I have a scenario where one product---- P1 in manufactured on resource A.

If , there is no capacity with resource A , then it can be manufactured in resouce B.

As per my knowledge , We can maintain alternate resource.

I also want to know how maintain the priority for uasge of the resource.

I want to maintain highest priority for usage of resource A , if A

do not have the capacity then resource B should be used.

Please let me know How to maintain an alternative resource and priorities for the resources?

Please give the tcode.

I am working with PDS in PP/DS.

When The planner will do planning of the product P1--- on resource A , Then he will get a -- Alert for capacity not available.

Then he will execute the planning with alternate resoure B.

Hi ravindra

Pls execute the following steps

1) Create Work center - say for ex R1

2) Create another Work center say R2 which is alternate to R1

3) Create Charcterstics for Alt resource

4) Create a class using classification type 019

5) Asign the charcaterstic to Class

6) Assign the class to the R1 work center. When assigned, a pop window is disaplyed for selecting the alternate work center select the check box for alt work center

7) In the routing for the operation where u r assigning the R1 work center - assign the same class which is created. For this go to Extras Menu and choose classification and also u can select the work center as alternate

9) Cif all work centers R1 and R2

10) CIF PDS, both R1 and R2 will get transfterred and R2 will be transferred as ALternate resource for R1

Pls look at the PDS and ensure the priority is set accordingly what is reqd

I have not understood why we should go for claasification ?

How will it help?

Please tell me about capacity planning on resource R1

When the planner will do capacity planning , if there is no capacity for A , then error message should be shown.

Then how the planner will execute planning with alternate resource that is R2.

Hi Ravindra

Since you are using PDS, you will not be able to maintain any data in PDS in APO.

So, if you want to have alternate resource for any parent resource for an operation, then you need to transfer the same from R3 to APO. Since you are transferring from R3, you need to maintain and assign the alternate resource to the parent resource. This can be done by defining classification.

I have done like this sucessfully in one of my projects

Pls let me know if you come across any other procedure for maintaing the alternate resource in PDS in APO

Pls note in case of PPM, You can define and maintain the alternate resource in APO it self but not in PDS

Hi

Classification is required for the following

1) To group the work centers

2) Assigning the WC to the primary work centers. By assigning thru this the secondary WC acts as alternate work center to primary work center

SO, classification is helpful/useful whenever you want to maintain the alternate work centers against the primary work center. This is especially helpful when u want to CIF the same to APO, so that in PDS it gets transferred as aletrmate Resource

In documentation it is given that we can use Badi to fill the related fields in PDS.

But I have not worked for making such Badi.

Please let me know the tcode for the steps you have given in earlier reply.

I am aware of creating or changing work center in R/3.

but how to define a work center as alternate work centre in R/3.

Please give the t-code for the steps given as 1 to 9.

Create a class of type 019 and assign the same to the Primary and secondary work center as explained
