What is the conversion agent and wht is this purpose ?

Hi,

Conversion Agent is a third party adapter but cannot be replaced by File Content Conversion of File adapter.

It can replace Content Conversion of the File Adapter , if needed.

Conversion Agent is a tool that allows you to build XML from PDF's,. TXT and excel files, mappings for EDI etc. So, if your file is a .TXT file, then you can develop the mapping using Conversion aganet to convert the .txt file and then call the corresponding COnversion Agent Module from your file adapter.

If you can handle Content Conversion using FIle adapter, you should use the same, but, if needed you can always use the Itemfild Conversion Agent to do the same. The only catch here with Conversion Agent is that it has its licensing overheads and it runs on a separate engine and so perfrormance when compared to file content conversion can be a bit poor but not lots.

SAP Conversion Agent by Informatica is a data conversion system that enables you to create interfaces between any data formats and XML-based systems Conversion Agent is a tool that allows you to build XML from PDF's,. Using the Conversion Agent, we can convert structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data to XML format.

The Conversion Agent has a Graphical development environment that enables us to define a conversion simply and quickly by using an example.

The Conversion Agent is integrated in SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure and the PCK by means of an Adapter Module. This enables you to call the Conversion Agent from the Adapters of the Adapter Engine.

The Conversion Agent supports the following 32-bit platforms:

1) Microsoft Windows 2003 (IA, 32 bit)

2) Linux Red Hat, RedHat EL3 (IA32)

3) Linux Suse SLES9 (IA-32)

4) Solaris 9, 10 (64 bit)

The Conversion Agent has the following additional functions:

1) Improved Conversion Agent Studio environment with new project assistants, a guided mode, and embedded help.

2) New data conversion components

Conversion Agent comprises the Conversion Agent Studio and the Conversion Agent Engine. In the Conversion Agent Studio you can develop and configure data conversions. The Conversion Agent Engine then executes the data conversions
