Hi Guys,

Can any tell me how to search a class file. I have a set of Jar files in which the required class file is there. But i don't know in which Jar file the class is. Is there any way to find out.

Regards,

Gowtham K.

Hi Gowtham,

A very simple approach that I prefer to make use of is the Windows Search functionality.

Simply right-click on the folder containing your set of jar files, choose "Search", enter the name of the class file (eg. xyz.class) in the field "Containing Text" and click the button "Search Now". The jar containing the class should be found. Make sure you dont enter any *s in "Containing Text" for the search since it will do a wild card search anyways.

Hi everybody,

please be aware that classlocator is the only tool of the ones given in this thread which indexes the jar and therefor in a complex situation (as the EP implementation for example is) is much faster than any alternative. In addition, it is quite good integrated into NWDS (Eclipse 2.x) and helps to fill up the build path in seconds, inluding usage of build path variables.

Hope it helps

Hi Gowtham,

Please download the Class locator from the following site. This will help to know what you are looking for.

http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/jarclassfinder

http://sourceforge.net/projects/classlocator

I hope this solves your problem.
