Hi

In short :

Role refers to the collection of associated activities as

transactions, reports and so on.

While profile is a set of authorizations that are valid for

the transactions defined in that role.

another defination would be...

Profiles are the component of the older SAP releases, this

was not replaced in the newer versions but a new layer was

placed above Profiles, Roles.

Profiles are therefore a subcomponent of Roles, they have a

one to many relationship where when authorization objects

overflow one profiles limit it will create a second profile

for that Role and so on.

Roles are logically assigned to users to give the newer

functionality of Roles (Menus etc), but profiles are

assigned to give the authorizations.

HI,

ROLE: role is a job description.this which are used to tells which job a user should perform.

PROFILE: profiles are used to give permissions to perform system functions....

A role is basically a container of authorizations and other related items.

A profile contains the actual authorizations once a role is generated. In addition a profile can be created from scratch using the classical method--transaction SU02. Roles are created via transaction PFCG.

Also take a look at the following threads:

Hi,

Profile means the brief description. In this profile having the roles.

Ex : Profile means i have exp in so and so knowledge and i have some years of experience in some technologies.

Role means on that project what we did my role is developer or tester.
