Normally I would only suggest this for a Windows system but perhaps in this case a reboot may help if there is something listening on port 3600 or somehow blocking it. Otherwise admittedly, I am out of suggestions.

In addition to the above, comment out(or remove) any other services in /etc/services that are using the same ports as your SAP services.

Hi,

check services file ( /etc/services) whether sapdp00 id defined with 3200/tcp or not

also check Note 39227 - getservbyname error

Dear Kaushal,

I am successful ping the server from the host.I am also using telnet successfuly.i installed the saprouter on this server because we were facing some problem related to listner & SAP support team want to log on our server . They solved the problem related to listner now DB,Listner & sap instance start successfully but when i want to log on to server it gives this error.

Partner not reached to (host 192.168.70.19 ,service sapdp00)

I checked port 3200 is defined for sapdp00 only.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

Partner not reached means no connection to host

192.168.70.19 -> Is this IP of your sap server or your local windows PC where sap GUI is installed?

Hi kaushal,

This is my server I.P.. When i run niping command it gave the following result

  1. niping -v

Try the following:

Check your startsap_tegaprod_00.log file in <sid>adm home directory, any errors ?

What does netstat -n |grep 3200 return on host ?

grep 3200 /etc/services ...should only return sapdp00 and

grep 3300 /etc/services ...should only return sapgw00

Try running a niping -t on host, do you get *** SELFTEST O.K. *** ?

On the PC with SAPgui run the command: telnet 192.168.70.19 3200 ...does it connect ?

karan,

Can you paste the contents of your /usr/sap/PRD/DVEBMGS00/work/dev_ms file please

Also check grep 3600 /etc/services returns only one service. Check netstat -n |grep 3600 too

Regards,

Nelis

I run this command netstat -n |grep 3200 7 get the following result:-

*********************************************************************

1. netstat -n | grep 3200 /etc/services

sapdp00 3200/tcp # SAP System Dispatcher Port

1. netstat -n | grep 3300 /etc/services

sapgw00 3300/tcp # SAP System Gateway Central Instance Port

You made a mistake here but not serious. The results from dev_ms should tell us your problem.

netstat -n |grep 3200 ...is one command. this will check services running on port 3200

grep 3200 /etc/services ....is another command. this check services on port 3200 in /etc/services file.

Nope 'ps' is for processors, 'netstat' for networking status, we want to check network ports here

Something is preventing your message server from starting you need to insure:

1) Only one service defined for sapmsPRD port 3600 in /etc/services

2) Make sure no other service listening on this port 3600 (command netstat -n|grep 3600 should help here)

Also you can check this service not running by: niping -v -S sapmsPRD

See [Note 896973|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/896973] for further info.

Hi Neils,

Sorry for that but when i am giving netstat -n | grep 3600

than i am getting nothing & come in command prompt.

The result on niping -v -S sapmsPRD is

  1. niping -v -S sapmsPRD

you are still missing a

sapms<SID> 3600/tcp

entry in your /etc/services file. This was the initial problem you had.

netstat -n lists only the established connections, since there is none, you won´t see anything.

Try

netstat -an | grep LISTEN | grep 36

So your system is not running.

Please stop it again (stopsap) and start it (startsap). The post the actual output of dev_ms.

Not true marcus, netstat -n on AIX will show everything, listening and established + sockets.

$ netstat -n |grep LISTEN |wc -l

41

$ netstat -n |grep ESTAB|wc -l

60

$ uname -a

AIX isisdev 3 5 0052124F4C00

Oh - I´m sorry for confusion, I forgot that we´re on AIX... my bad.

sorry, I have connection problems. I tried to edit my message just after I posted but couldn't connect.

On AIX netstat -a will include all server process sockets as well so you were right to include this switch but otherwise both netstat -n and netstat -a will display listening and established connections.
