Garbled French characters in EBP

Former Member

Hi Gurus,

I have a problem where my catalog contents are in French and the characters appear okay in CCM. However, as I add the item to my SC and bring it back to EBP, some of the characters become garbled in EBP. For example the letter ê comes in as a series of jumbled texts instead of the letter ê itself.

The other issue I have is also garbled characters in the search header texts. Does anyone know what's causing these characters to garble like that? And how can we fix them?

Thanks.

SN

Hi. Further to Masa's comment, check the code page in the catalog set up in the IMG.

If you go the IMG where you create the catalog (SRM Server > Master Data > Define External Web Services), and scroll across the main page, where you have catalog name and so on, there should be a field on the furthest right called code page.

You can only see this field on the overview if you scroll to the right, it is not available if you go into the details by double clicking.

If you can not see this field let me know, there was a OSS note to enable it, although I think it is included in SRM 4 and 5 in later support packs.

Dave,

We do have the code page column. What is supposed to go in there?

Hi. Masa might be able to confirm this, but I think the code page field is the OCI return encoding.

Either way, if it is blank now why not stick in your catalogue encoding and see what happens? We had to maintain it to get unicode transfer working, I am not 100% sure exactly what te field does though.

Dave,

What do you have to maintain there to get the Unicode transfer working? It sounds like this is only applicable if your system uses Unicode. Our system does not as seen in my reply to Masa.

Hi. We use unicode so we had to put UTF-8 in, so the catalog matched our SRM system.

If you use something else put that in the code page field.

Dave.

Hi,

Please check followings. I think the charset is different between SRM and CCM.

1. SRM Server code page

System-> Status, Unicode =Yes or No, In case of No, What is the code page.

2. OCI parameter http_content_charset from SRM

Use httpWatch tool

3. Browser encoding in CCM screen

4. OCI return encoding

Use httpWatch tool

The issue in search header is Java Encode problem. Please check the note

1157827.

Masa,

I checked the following:

1. SRM Server code page

System-> Status, Unicode = No. In case of No, What is the code page? Where do I find this code page?

2. OCI parameter http_content_charset from SRM. I have ~HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET_ENABLED set to 1 in the ICF service for BBPSC01.

3. Browser encoding in CCM screen. Is this where I click on the catalog name (category tree) or the following screen that lists the catalog items (product list)? What am I looking for here?

4. OCI return encoding. Where do I find this? Use httpWatch tool?

Does it matter if we use internal or external ITS? We use external ITS and we only have this issue in QA and not in Dev.

Thanks.

Hi,

Is there any system difference between QA and DEV ?

Please check the code page in SNL1 transaction.

Per SNL1, our db codepage is 1100 - SAP internal, like ISO 8859-1. Does it mean internal ITS? We use external ITS.

Hi,

What is the codepage in the catalog server ?

Can you create a shopping cart with French text without catalog?

The codepage in the catalog server is also 1100, just like in SRM.

We can create a French text SC without a catalog ok. It's only when the item coming back from catalog that we have this issue.

Hi,

SRM and Catalog are same code page. It should work.

To find a solution you need to check OCI http post parameters. [http://www.httpwatch.com/|http://www.httpwatch.com/] is a good tool for http log.

Hi. Have you tried putting 1100 in the code page field in the catalog config?

Dave.

Putting in ISO 8859-1 in the codepage field does no good and the characters are still garbled.

I also tried 1100 but when I add items to my SC, nothing is brought back to SRM. My shopping cart is empty.
