Hi experts i am planing to learn sap mdm . so please give a guidense that where i want to consontratte on mdm . as sap xi developer .that means what are the key concepets in sap mdm .? where we can use mdm in xi senarios,

this website is a very good source of information on new SAP products (like the latest version of MDM) - https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/okp (again you will need your S number u2013 if you donu2019t have one your company should be able to get one for you).

For MDM information, go to this address, then click on u2018SAP NetWeaver 2004su2019 in the You are here: pane on the left. Then on the right click on the Master Data Management u2013 Entire IT Scenario link.

MDM is a very hot technology and its easy to learn. As a beginer you should start off with the reference guides for the 4 main components of MDM.

MDM has basically 4 main components :

1. Console

2. Import Manager

3. Data Manager

4. Syndicator

MDM is a tool which is basically ,meant to consolidate, harmonize and centrally maintain the Master Data. For this, it needs to integrate with many source and target systems. generally, wherever the direct integration is not possible, XI is used to integrate the ystems with MDM.

Hence With the knowledge of XI, you can do wonders in MDM. Infact Xi-MDM is an execllent combination in SAP Netweaver right now.

As also menitoned in the above post, XI can be used in SRM-MDM inetgartion, BI-MDM integration, R3-MDM integartion. Your role would be basically to successfully pass the data from 1 system to another.

Both XI and MDM are different technologies.XI is for process integration means gets

the message from one syatem and tranfer the message to another system.

MDM is for cleansing,consolidating and normalizing the data.

There is no specific topic in MDM for XI developer to learn.You need to learn all the

concepts.Always ,it is better to have command on multiple technologies.

where we can use mdm in xi senarios,

XI sends the messages which are coming from different application systems(ECC,CRM,SRM) to a MDM system where we cleanse ,normalize the data and MDM sends back to nomalized data to XI and finally XI sends normailzed data to

target application systems(ECC,CRM,SRM) .

Here XI is middleware between ECC and MDM.
