SAP NWDS & SAP NWDI

Hi everybody,

can anyone tell me if the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (SAP NWDS) is part of the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (SAP NWDI) or if NWDS and NWDI are seen as two different tools.

What is the official statement from SAP? Is NWDS included in NWDI?

It would be nice if an SAP official could give me an answer to this question but of course all answers are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Torben

Hi,

NWDS is a tool to develop various applications.

NWDI is a central repository to keep all ur developed components that constitute the application generated using NWDS.

Whenevr we want to develop an application we create a track in NWDI and In NWDS we access that track to develop components. All the develop components will reside in NWDI under that track.

NWDI is similar to ABAPs Change and Transport System (CTS). The aim is to control deployment of components in the system landscape in a standardized manner. NWDI can be used to import Business Packages from SAP and enables development teams to modify standard applications.

These two are differemt things totally different tool.

NWDI - Netweaver Development Infrastructure is an SAP sytem for java development & change management. It's a repository for java code and change management system.

NWDS is a developer tool to build applications similar to Eclipse. NWDS uses NWDI to check-in & check-out java code and move java changes to SAP runtime systems (like portal etc).
