Hi Sangeeta Nadiger,

Are you using Global Trade Services? If yes, you can find the Tariff codes at product classification.

To know which Tariff codes is currently available needs to check with your respective Customs as SAP will follow exactly as given by the Customs. I could provide you an example for European Union & hope it could provide give you an idea on Tariff codes.

Step:

1. Goto http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds/tarhome_de.htm

2. Change the language to English (on the top right hand side of the page)

3. Click on Tarif Code then follow by the 'Browse' button. The list of the chapter, heading, sub-heading will available upon mouse click.

This is what Tariff code about. Hope this could answer your question.

Best regards,

HC.

Hi Sangeeta Nadiger,

Tariff codes is codes which is given by the customs on refering to a particular item/ product.

Depending on the different customs, the tariff code may be different eventhough you are refering to the same thing.

For example in US, you will have 01019010 (8 digits of Tariff code) which decript a horses. The first 2 character is the Chapter (Live Animal), follow by the 4 characters on Heading & last 2 character as the sub-heading - Horses.

When we are importing a horses, we use this tariff codes instead of horses.

I hope the above info could help you understand what's tariff codes mean.

Please let me know if you have further inquiries.

Thank you.

Best regards,

HC.

Dear sangeetha

In foreign trade, based on the Customs Tariff only, duties will be levied. In SAP, you will be maintaining this in j1id, Material and Chapter ID combination.

thanks
