Advantages , disadvantages of MDM ABAP API in BI 7.0 , MDM Integration

Dear Gurus,

We need your help to identify the best option for the following case.

Requirement:

we need to integrate MDM 5.5 TO BI 7.0, to get the additional customer attributes from MDM TO BI.

1. Need your help to identify ,which is the best option to integrate i.e using XI as a middle layer or using MDM ABAP API in BI 7.0, which can talk to MDM.

2. What are the pros and cons in each case.

If you could send me any details on this , help is appreciated and rewarded with points.

I Prefer SAP XI / PI as Middle ware and design because in SAP XI / PI we can do end to end montoring, We can do Transformation, Validation, Look Up, even Sucessfull message in XI can be resend if we needed, Can raise Alert if and notify to support team etc
