Hi
We have installed EP 7.x in our environment which is running on the Java stack. We are using Oracle 10.2.x for the same. The server is running on IBM AIX operating system (unix). Could you please tell us the steps for changing the portal SID?
Hi Aditya,
The best way to do it is with a system copy, following is the link where you can download the system copy guide:
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700006457682006E.PDF
Anyway, I think that this the the only official and supported way to do it.

Hai,
There are different ways of changing the SID -
One way is to install the same EP 7.0 version on a seperate host with different SID.Backup the Original system and restore on the other system, where you installed the EP with different SID.Make sure of the hostname adjustments.
the other way around is changing the SID in the all the places where the entries or created like environment variables, registry entries, deleting and recreating the SIDadm and SAPServiceSID,recreate the SAP services and change the paths for the SAP Data,SAPLog and SAP Binary Directories etc..
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Zareh
Thanks for your quick reply.
The PDF document that you are referring to is a very generic guide for all the system copy activities.
Could you please indicate the specific steps that we need to perform?
Did you come across any scenario where you have done this change earlier?

Hello Aditya,
Please do NOT try to change the SID by renaming every place you could find the old SID.
The gentlest way is to perform system copy. There is a lot of documentation written on the subject, but once you get familiar with the procedure you will appreciate it.
There are different kinds of system copy. Please start from the following link for basic information about system copy:
