Spool Error

Hi All,

I am running a program in backgroung which takes about 20 hours, so I start it in background "immediately" one day and nest day it is executed.

It generates about 14 pages of output, when I try to see in sm37 it throws error:

Request 20,649 in system ECQ: internal error

0000000028/ in spooler ()

I created a small program to see it's spool, and that was fine 1 page spool.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

See the error in Spool log for the spool of corresponding job, using transaction SP01 and post the details.

When I select the job, and click the 'Spool' Button at top, I get this line:

   Spool no.  Type Date       Time  Status Pages Title

       20649      05/21/2008 17:00  <F5>    14  LIST1S LOCL ZSCRAMBLESRE

See in status it says <F5>, so when I hit F5, it displays these lines:

   Spool no.  OutpReqNo. Date       Time  Output Device          Format  Log  Status text for output req.

       20649     3      05/22/2008 12:37 LP01                   X_65_80      Waiting for output formatter
       20649     2      05/22/2008 12:13 Local Frontend Printer X_65_80      Incorrect (Error creating print data)
       20649     1      05/22/2008 09:12 Local Frontend Printer X_65_80      Frontend unavailable 

I am not a BASIS person, I am an ABAPer, so my questions might feel very stupid.

Hi

The printer to which it is trying to print is unavailable for print. So the error is related to the printer definition in the system.

Either the printer is switched off , or it is off the network, or there is no printer settings have been done on your system.

Check all these conditions with your basis guy.

Thanks for your reply Rahul,

But, the problem is that I created a small program with just 1 page output and scheduled in background to run immediately with same parameters on same system. And, that ran successfully and I can see the spool log too.

When I run the problem program, I run it in background for overnight, I log-off and next day see the output, which should not affect. The program takes about 20 hours to execute. Is that a problem that Local Frontend Printer might not be available when I log-off and it tries to print spool during night time?

This might be the case that, the printer is not available during the night time.

never knew what was error, but it was solved by a change in program.
