I've a small query, related with below screenshot APYR3FIX

Either I need to provide the folder details and from it will automatically update all 25 files or I've to give one by one file name and run 25 times this command individually to update 25 files, also within those 25 files DISP+WORK is there. So should I use APYR3FIX ??

or any other process is there??

SAP system ID . . . . . . . . -. SND

From save file . . . . . . . . -. tmp

Library . . . . . . . . . . -. *LIBL

Saved library . . . . . . . . -. KERN

Kernel library to be processed *CURRENT

Executable Path To Be Updated -. *SYSEXERUN

Install Program . . . . . . . -. R3INSTFIX

Get save file from stream file *YES

Hi,

I don't understand your question, but you need to run APYR3FIX 25 times, if you want to apply 25 files. disp+work is in the DW pack, which is the biggest one ...

have fun,

Hi,

You are issuing following command

APYR3FIX SID(SND) SAVF(R3FIX700U/APYR3FIX) SAVLIB(GEN700UOPT) KRNLIB(SAPSNDUKRN)

means you are going to patch APYR3FIX.

rename APYR3FIX_5-20001357.SAR to APYR3FIX.SAR and put this file in tmp folder.

one more thing

when you are going to upgrade actual kernel then only following file under kern folder

SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR

all other kernel fix have to put under tmp folder only i.e APYR3FIX.SAR, APYSAP.SAR , DW.SAR

check the link which i already provided.

Dear kaushal,

Thanks for your reply.

As per my understanding from your answar I'm note down all step by step activity below. Please rectify if anything I've missed here.

1)Downloaded .SAR files available in a IFS

2)From IFS rename the file and dump into temp folder ( As We've mapped the root in in a diffrent server I can access the same fron a Window base server)

3)Also Note that the old APYR3FIX file is already available in temp folder.( sud I remove the old .SAR files from Temp folder?)

Then Run APYR3FIX APYR3FIX SID(SND) SAVF(R3FIX700U/APYR3FIX) SAVLIB(GEN700UOPT) KRNLIB(SAPSNDUKRN)

with the following option, But as I've saved the APYR3FIX to temp folder I'll keep Stream file host with default value i.e. *Local ..

SAP system ID . . . . . . . . . SND Character value

From save file . . . . . . . . . APYR3FIX Name

Library . . . . . . . . . . . R3FIX700U Name, *LIBL, *CURLIB

Saved library . . . . . . . . . GEN700UOPT Name

Kernel library to be processed SAPSNDUKRN Name, *CURRENT

Executable Path To Be Updated *SYSEXERUN

Install Program . . . . . . . . R3INSTFIX Character value

Get save file from stream file *YES *NO, *YES

Stream file host . . . . . . . . *Local

HI,

2)From IFS rename the file and dump into temp folder ( As We've mapped the root in in a diffrent server I can access the same fron a Window base server)

put all kernel fix in tmp folder of AS400 host where you are applying kernel fix.

i.e /tmp on as400 contain APYR3FIX.SAR, APYSAP.SAR, DW.SAR

HI,

Iu2019ve updated 32 patchs using APYR3FIX

APYR3FIX is used for applying kernel fix only. like TP.SAR, R3TRANS.SAR, DW.SAR.

which patch you applied using APYR3FIX ?

the actual kernel ( SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR) is apply using LODSAPKRN .

check the link that I already suggested to apply kernel.

i think you are missing following.

after apply patch of DW.SAR using APYR3FIX

did you execute

APYSAP TYPE(*KERNEL) SID(<SID>) DSTLIB(SAPSIDUKRN)

where SAPSIDUKRN = your kernel library and SID = your SAP system id

Hi,

Iu2019ve successfully patched the kernel of development system. After that Iu2019ve faced lots of problem with tp and finally able to resolve.

Again Iu2019m facing some different problem when Iu2019m going to patch Production System.

First it was showing that APYR3FIX cannot create a save file R3FIX700U/APYR3FIX

So I checked the log and noticed some missing authorization so asked AS400 Admin to provide necessary authorization. (Iu2019m using SIDOFR id)

When I run the same command again it shows that it is unable to create save file so I created the save library R3FIX700U manually and found it can successfully able to create save file under this. But now it is again showing a new problem,

"APYR3FIX cannot unpack the patch save file APYR3FIX - See the joblog"

Job log is not available, also tried to check the latest log from iseries navigator -> work management -> output queues ->qprint but unfortunately there is no log for this period.

Can anyone help me on this?

Hi,

I would NEVER patch a kernel more than once !!!!

=> Please patch your kernel once - as you did already and then use the following apporach in order to copy it for the next system with qsecofr:

- savlib <kernel new>

- rstlib <kernel new>

- fixr3owns <kernel new>

Then it will work as good as before ))

Hi expert,

Are you mean to say I need to copy the development kernel and change it with present kernel of production system??

If it is so, then please tell me the step by step process as our AS400 administrator is not helpful and will not help me to carry out this activity. Iu2019m also very new to AS400 platform, so need help.
