can anybody pls tell me what is material group in SD& how to configure it?

Hi rahul

T.code: OMSF - Define Material Group

You can assign this material group in Material master data sales orgn 2 view

We use material group to group materials which has similar characteristics and similar features

So as per the material group we can define and assign condition type in our pricing procedure and give discount to those materials which we are grouping using Material Group

Examples: Detergents, Office supplies , Beverages , Maintenance work..etc

Go to SPRO --> IMG --> Logistics General --> Material Group

--> Create Material Group.

Hi,

Material Group is Grouping of materials and services according to their characteristics.

The items in a material grouping can be single materials or materials such as generic materials, material groups, promotions or layout areas. A quantity and a unit of measure must be entered for each item in the material grouping.

Hi,

Material group is nothing but grouping certain kind of materils which are pocessing similar charecteristics. This field will be useful in pricing that means when ever u want to issue same pricing for certain group of materials. Then u just creat condition record by taking this material group field as one of key combination.

Material group field will also be useful while preparing reports like want to see how many materials sold which are belongs to one material group..

Generally this is MM part and will be defined by MM consultant..
