Hi murti,

XI is all about integration of different processes and systems,it is an important component in the Netweaver stack.

MDM is also an important component in the netweaver stack which deals with the master data of different sap and non-sap and legacy systems.

Therefore it will have to integrate with many systems in the landscape .This is where XI will play an important role .

- Xi will be used to extract data from different systems and giv eit to MDM

- Then take the cleansed data from MDM and transport to the respective systems.

- Then monitor the flow of this data.

- Perform data conversions whereever required

Hope it helps

Kindly reaward points if found useful

Thanks

Hello Murty,

Yes its added advantage to learn MDM.

As u all ready know XI u can easily execute scenarios like SAP --> XI --> MDM & MDM --> XI -->SAP

Here is the link of SAP help :

Hi Murty,

You can learn MDM, you have XI experience so learning MDM has an advantage because in real time scenarios MDM takes data from external systems like R3/Legacy/or any SAP system and therefore XI can be used as an interface to communicate between any 3rd party system and MDM and vice a versa (Its not manadatory). After consolidation of data, MDM can manage it centrally and distribute to required systems.

MDM generally has core scenarios like:

Consolidation

Harmonization

Central Data Management

See these links for MDM practice and basics:

on MDM forum you can search lot of threads to learn MDM.

Hi,

Its always better to have multiple skills and there is close proximity between MDM and XI because in order to establish communication between MDM and R/3 XI knowlegde is must so its an added advantage in your case and MDM is not at all difficult to learn.

To learn the entire MDM go through the below link. Its a MDM Reference Guide that contains all the concepts and good examples
