Hello,
I have completed and checked all the activities for email alert setup as mentioned in the thread,
Alerts are coming to RWB-> Alert Inbox but email has not sent to user.
We have completed following activities,
1. The email ID you mention in SU01
2. Alert Inbox of the User , PERSONALIZATION --> TIME INDEPENDENT DELIVERY --> EMAIL
3. SCOT has been configured.
4. ALRTCATDEF--> CONFIGURATION -- By default settings with Logging as selected.
But, I am not getting option to select either "INTERNAL PROCESSING " or "SMTP forwarding as XML "
Urgent help will be approciable.
Thanks,
SamV.

hi SAMV
First important thing to configure mail alert is that you need to configure mail server on your machine. and then make your users.
then configure alert which many people has given you links above. in the alert configuration give the iD of the person whom you want the mail to be received.
it will work for you
Thanks

Hi Chandrakant,
When I am executing -->
ALRTCATDEF, go to SETTINGS--> CONFIGURATION.
"By default, the option selected is INTERNAL PROCESSING. Select the option SMTP FORWARDING AS XML and give the email id. This will enable you to send an email alert whenever an error occurs in XI."
I am get above mentioned objects. It is only showing
1. User
2. Status handling with mails
3. Logging
is there any configuration missing?
Thanks,
SamV.

Hi,
To send the Email when ever an error occurs in XI means u have to so some configurations.
Keep default values which are there in
1. User
2. Status handling with mails
3. Logging
while creating alert category u have to give the recipient information.there u will give the SAP Ids and in SU01 tell ur basis guy to do the configuration setting so that email will be sent to that particular mail id.
Thanks,
Phani

Hi Sam,
You can send alert to alert inbox, mail an even on SMS
if your cell phone operator gives you the possibility of sending an sms through a web service.
Here is the step by step process on how to create and use alerts.
Step 1
At first we have to create an alert category:
- go to TCODE - ALRTCATDEF
- change mode
- define you alert category
Step 2
Next we can add some variables to our container which we will later use to compose the text of our alert message.
In alerts from XI you can use those variables:
SXMS_MSG_GUID, SXMS_RULE_NAME, SXMS_ERROR_CAT, SXMS_ERROR_CODE,
SXMS_FROM_PARTY, SXMS_FROM_SERVICE, SXMS_FROM_NAMESPACE, SXMS_FROM_INTERFACE,
SXMS_TO_PARTY, SXMS_TO_SERVICE, SXMS_TO_NAMESPACE,SXMS_TO_INTERFACE
for their ABAP dictionary types please go to:
Creating Alert Categories
Step 3
Now we can use our variables from the container to create an alert message.
Step 4
In order to receive alerts we have to add ourselfs to the receivers list.
Step 5
This is the end of the configuration in sapgui and now we can start working with RWB (Runtime Workbench).
- log on to RWB
- choose Alert configuration
- create a new alert rule
In my example I want to see all of the errors but you can restrict it to receive only mapping errors for instance.
Step 6
We're ready to try our alerts but to check them we first need an error
I just gave a wrong XML to one of the processes and as you can see I managed to trigger a mapping error.
Step 7
Now you can go to the alertinbox to see if the alert was triggered:
- you can do it from RWB - Alert inbox
- or from sapgui TCODE - ALRTINBOX
This weblog shows how you can create a new alert rule in less then five minutes but only if your system is properly configured.
If you have any problems with Alert configuration please take a look at:

hi check the below link
and click on view webinar presentation by opening the link
There are 2 ways / 2 majors areas when it comes to XI alertng,
1. With BPM
it is possible to trigger Alerts from your BPM with dynamic Text for the alerts. You do this using the Control Step of your BPM and this is similar to say the TRY -- CATCH concept of a Java environment!
2. Without BPM
In real time projects during support stages, it becomes necessary to have an automatic initmation in case any error occurs in XI at any stage in the pipeline. In this case, you can configure ALERTS using the ALRTCATDEF ( alert category ) and then you configure Alert Rules for the same.!
The Alerts in SAP XI can be raised for error happening in:
1. Adapter Engine
2. Integration Engine.
1. These Alerts are system generated in case anything happens in either of the component.
For this you need to:
1. Create ALert Category in the Trnasaction ALRTCATDEF
2. Create Alert rules in Runtime Workbench--> ALert Configuration and associating these rules to Alert category.
If you want you can do it without a BPM
and throw an exception in case any of the values is missing:
have a look at this weblog on how to throw exceptions
in a nice way:
/people/alessandro.guarneri/blog/2006/01/26/throwing-smart-exceptions-in-xi-graphical-mapping
Also just go through Raising Exceptions in SAP XI Mapping and see if it helps you solve the problem.

To send an EMAIL, assign an EMAIL ID to the corresponding user in the transaction SU01 and then set up SCOT and you can send emails when the ALERT is triggered..
Once you have configure Alerts, you will get the Alerts into ALERT INBOX in RWB of the user. To also get the email, the following needs to be done,
1. In SU01 -- Assign the Email ID for the Recipient of the ALERT.
2. In , RWB>ALERT INBOX> PERSONALIZATION--> Time Independent Delivery and Email are selected.
3. Finally, SCOT needs to be set up to send Emails. Check this for the same. You can ask your BASIS team to do this step.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/23/1edf098ea211d2b47300609419ed29/frameset.htm
Also, In ALRTCATDEF, go to SETTINGS--> CONFIGURATION. By default, the option selected is INTERNAL PROCESSING. Select the option SMTP FORWARDING AS XML and give the email id. This will enable you to send an email alert whenever an error occurs in XI.
reward points if solution is helpfull
